Reflection

Our group decided that the best subject to discuss about would be pollution. I am Ghanem the secretary; Sultan is the chairman, Abdulla, A and Abdulla, J are the two other participants. The Chairman Sultan introduced the group to the subject and started the first point that is encouraging industries to be more environmentally aware. The solutions from the participants were quite excellent. The second point was car pollution and the group got a solution that is installing an efficient catalytic converter. The third point is deforestation; and the solution was planting the exact amount of the chopped trees. The fourth point is the periodic chemical analysis for the seawater. The best answer the group got was replacing toxic chemicals with nontoxic chemicals. The final point is to raise awareness in public and in schools. The discussion was good overall, because Sultan unfortunately didn’t start with a great introduction as Hedley said. All of the participants participated in the meeting and gave solutions to the problems that were discussed. In my opinion, the group needed to work a little more on the points; the group needs to add more points in the discussion to be comprehensive and to be thoroughly discussed by the group.

Interview Report

Abdulla Salem:

Abdulla is applying for an accountant job. He was born in Al Ain and lived there for a while then moved to Abu Dhabi for personal reasons. He finished his high school in a private school and afterward he graduated from Abu Dhabi Men’s College with a bachelor degree in accounting. Abdulla didn’t actually say his full name when he was asked to; this means that he may forget some things when he is asked to do some job. He suffered a little bit with the words. He needs vocabulary improvement. Abdulla is a freshman with no work experience. He doesn’t have any idea about the bank that he is applying to. He’s ready and willing to work for the bank. He doesn’t mind to take six months training course in the bank. He sees himself after three or four years as an accountant manager in the bank with employees working for him. His greatest strength is in mathematics. He says he’s good in math and good in numbers. When he was asked about his weakness he said: “I can’t think of one”. This shows that he is capable and able to work under pressure. He adds that he is a patient worker and can handle difficult situations. Ending the interview he asked about his job title and  the salary he’ll be getting.
